Braber Equipment is a leader in equipment, machinery and accessories especially agricultural

The Braber 71.004.002 16-1/2 lb Steel Fence Post Pounder is the simplest tool for installing metal fence posts, with no moving parts and no maintenance required as it is a solid piece of steel.  The Braber pounder  is 23″ long and has a 2-3/4″ ID open end that fits over the fence post and closed on the opposite end of pounder so as you drive the pounder downwards with the two ergonomic handles, it strikes against the inner end cap. The Braber post pounder is a manual tool that allows users to drive posts unassisted unlike large auger machines, and is easier than pre drilling or digging holes. The Braber 71.004.002 drives the fence post by using gravity assist as the user lifts fence post pounder over the top of the fence post, then starts to lift and drive the pounder down over the post, slowly inching the fence post into the ground.

Braber 71.004.002 16-1/2 lb 2-3/4″ ID Steel Fence Post Pounder Helpful Tips

  • Do not lift the post pounder off the fence post on your up swing as you can have the post pounder catch the top edge of the post on the way down and causing injury as it falls.
  • If you have someone holding the posts in position, make sure to mark off the lowest point on the post so your helper knows where to safely put their hands.
  • Some users recommend that as you drive the pounder downwards you let go or relax your grip before it pounder strikes the post to limit vibration impact stress on your hands.
  • If you are using non-manufactured posts make sure the diameter isn’t tapered and larger then the post pounder at its lowest striking point, as the fence post pounder will be very difficult to remove should the post be larger.
  • Use a post level to ensure your post is level, you can eye ball level to start but ensure to check level before you pound the post in too far as it will be difficult to correct if you go too far.  It is recommended that you check a few times as you drive the post, and if accuracy is important, it is great to have a helper check periodically to ensure your fence post remains level.
  • Once you have determined the height of your fence, mark each fence post at the bottom where you want to stop so you don’t have to keep checking the height with a tape measure.
